Renovation Reality!

I'm trying to catch up on the most recent D&R that's been going on at our house. Let me give you some history.

When we moved into our house (we rented) there were lumps under the carpet in the front room. The owner of the house told us it was probably the carpet padding bunched up under the carpet since it was old and was never replaced.

With that being said - Once we decided we were going to buy the house the front room was the first to get a new coat of paint. We took off the baseboards and decided to put them up when we got new carpet installed in a few months (our first mistake). I said to my husband that since we have part of the carpet up we should see what the lumps are (second mistake). Here's what we found...

So the first renovation to our house turned out to be more than we bargained for. After tearing up the old, damaged floor, we replaced it, got new carpet, painted and put up new curtains we are just about done.

I am looking for suggestions on something I could put on the back wall (where the bookshelf is currently). Anyone have anything for me?

My Birthday Present!

A few weeks ago was my birthday and this year I decided I wanted something non-traditional. I discovered Knock-offwood.com and knew I had to have the Tryde Coffee Table & End Table. So that's what I got!

Since my husband is very handy, and me not so much, I asked him to teach me how to make it so that I could do more projects like this.

Final result!

I love the way this came out and it was so easy to do! We got the coffee table and end table built in just a few hours. The longest part was staining it, which actually wasn't too bad. We used MINWAX Polyshades in Antique Walnut.

I can't wait to do more projects like this!

Let me introduce myself - My name is Erin and I just turned 28. I married my best friend and love of my life in October 2009 (Old Love) and we just purchased our first home last month (New House).

My husband and I met in January of 2002, started dating in 2003, moved in together in 2006, got engaged in 2008 and married in 2009. We know a lot about each other as individuals but since getting married we are discovering who we are as a "Team".
